Hull

The hull is made of fibreglass. A hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

The hull is a double hull. The core material in the sandwich construction is PVC foam.PVC foam core is a synthetic material which offers excellent mechanical properties and low weight. It is widely used and has a proven track record in marine sandwich composites.

Interior

The boat is equipped with 4 cabins, 12 berths and 599 liters (158 US gallons, 131 imperial gallons) fresh water capacity.

The headroom is above average

Rig

The Casamance 44 is built with a fractional rig. The sail area for the mailsail + jib is 139.9 m2 (1,506.1 ft2). A fractional rig has smaller headsails which make tacking easier, which is an advantage for cruisers and racers, of course. The downside is that having the wind from behind often requires a gennaker or a spinnaker for optimal speed.

Keel

Bilge keel

The Casamance 44 is built with a bilge keel. A bilge keel is a twin keel, which allows the boat to be beached. Bilge keels are the most popular keel for tidal waters.

The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.15 - 1.25 meter (3.77 - 4.07 ft) dependent on the load.
