The Venezia 42 is a large catamaran designed by the French maritime architect bureau Joubert / Nivelt in the early nineties. A few hundred boats have been built. The Venezia 42 is built by the French yard Fountaine Pajot SA.

Hull

The hull is made of fibreglass. A hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

Interior

The boat is equipped with 795 liters (210 US gallons, 174 imperial gallons) fresh water capacity.

Rig

The Venezia 42 is built with a fractional rig. A fractional rig has smaller headsails which make tacking easier, which is an advantage for cruisers and racers, of course. The downside is that having the wind from behind often requires a gennaker or a spinnaker for optimal speed.

Keel

Bilge keel

The Venezia 42 is built with a bilge keel. A bilge keel is a twin keel, which allows the boat to be beached. Bilge keels are the most popular keel for tidal waters.

The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.19 - 1.29 meter (3.90 - 4.20 ft) dependent on the load.

Engine

The fuel tank has a capacity of 360 liters (95 US gallons, 79 imperial gallons).

Venezia 42 may be equipped with dual inboard Yanmar diesel engines at 56 hp (41 kW).
