The Hallberg-Rassy P 28 Mk III also known as P 28 Mk III or HR P 28 Mk III is a sailboat designed by the Swedish maritime architect Harry Hallberg in the early seventies. Less than 100 boats have been built. The Hallberg-Rassy P 28 Mk III is built by the Swedish yard Hallberg-Rassy Varvs AB.

Hull

Both the hull and the deck is made of hand laid fibreglass. A hull made of hand laid fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.


Interior

The boat is equipped with 2 cabins, 4 + 1/2 berths, a galley, 65 liters (17 US gallons, 14 imperial gallons) fresh water capacity and toilet facility.

The interior is like many other boats made of mahogany. Mahogany belongs to the hardwood species, known for being water-repellent and resistant to decay. It has an attractive wood grain and holds wood polish and varnish well.


Keel

The Hallberg-Rassy P 28 Mk III is built with a long keel. A long keel provide a better directional stability than a similar boat with a fin keel; on the other hand, better directional stability means also that the boat is more difficult to handle in a harbour with less space.

The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.28 - 1.38 meter (4.20 - 4.50 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.
